About Us
A very warm welcome to Stabat Mater Menevia, the website of the Confraternity of the Holy Cross.
We are based in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Menevia, and represent the faithful who attend and support the Holy Mass in the Extraordinary Form.
We support the priests of the Diocese who , in their kindness and generosity, offer the Traditional Latin Mass, and seek to provide the faithful with a point of contact, and the opportunity to be part of the stable group.
In 2007, His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI promulgated the Motu Proprio which allowed the Traditional Mass to be freely celebrated once again. In response to this, and taking into account the particular geographical challenges in the Menevia Diocese, we set up the Stabat Mater site, to foster support for each other and the priests who celebrate this form of the Holy Mass, and to keep in touch with each other,
We are indebted to the work of the late Mr. Richard Collins, who was so instrumental in helping setting up the community and the associated website. Richard worked tirelessly in his later years, promoting and serving at the Mass, training new Servers, fundraising and setting up our website.
