It was a great opportunity to meet with members of the committee, put faces to names and discuss the matters relevant to ourselves as traditional Catholics within Wales. We also promised to support each other in prayer.
Cardinal Burke was the guest of honour at dinner held on Friday night.
The Cardinal also presided at the Formal Requiem held for the deceased and benefactors of the Latin Mass Society at Westminster Cathedral on Saturday afternoon.
At the end of the Requiem Mass and before the absolutions, the Cardinal spoke to the congregation about the absolute importance of praying for our deceased family and friends, and how this was inextricably linked to the Eucharist. The Cardinal spoke about remaining firm in our faith despite the persecution we may face from outside the church and also to some extent within the church too.
Over the weekend, we discussed continuing our close ties between our confraternity in Wales and the work of the Latin Mass Society. We hope to attend another event, perhaps the representatives meeting, in 2016 and to suggest that an event takes place in between ourselves and central London to enable more people to participate. We may also in the future join with our friends in the Cardiff Diocese for a larger event.
Overall , this was a blessed , encouraging and significant weekend.
