Next Sunday (17th March Passion Sunday) EF Mass will be at St Benedict's Church, Clydach at  2pm.
Confessions will be heard beforehand.


Let us pray that the Conclave will, in the interim, elect a good and strong Pope to lead the Church of Christ.

Missa Cantata in Sketty

A reminder that there will be a Missa Cantata in Sketty (Swansea) at St Benedict's at 3pm this Sunday 29th April.


I am sure that all Confraternity members will wish to pass on their prayers and good wishes to Confraternity Treasurer and LMS Diocesan Representative, Luigi Dimaio who married Alyson Lewis at the Church of St Therese de Lisieux, Sandfields, last Sunday.

We wish them every happiness for the future.

The wedding service was followed by a beautifully sung Missa Cantata and the celebrants were Fr Paul Brophy, parish priest and Fr Andrew Southwell, Chaplain to the LMS.

Holy Mass next Sunday

St Benedict's, Clydach is where Mass in the Extraordinary Form will be celebrated on Sunday 19th February at 2pm.

Celebrant: Fr Jason Jones, and grateful thanks for Fr Teyrnon for allowing the Confraternity to use his church.

If you are in the Menevia Diocese please make the effort to attend this Mass as Fr Burke does need to know that there is a real demand.

Now this is Good News!

Most grateful thanks to Father Michael Burke who has agreed to celebrate the Extraordinary Form of Mass in St Joseph's Cathedral, Swansea at 12 noon on the 4th Sunday of each month from now on - Gaudete!

This will, we believe, be the first time that the Latin Mass will have held a regular slot in the Cathedral's church service programme since the 1970s.

Please offer a prayer of thanksgiving to Our Lord in thanks for the Bishop, Father Burke, Fr Jones and all of our priests who celebrate the EF Mass.

And thanks also to Jeff Pillar who has helped bring this about. Jeff is an LMS member as well as being a founder member of the Confraternity of the Holy Cross

Psalm 49:14-15 "Offer to God the sacrifice of praise: and pay thy vows to the most High. And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me."

 

A Happy and Spiritual New Year begins......

The Bishop's Rosaries

Last week, Fr Jason Jones presented Bishop Thomas Burns with the spiritual bouquet of 315 Rosaries offered up on the his behalf by Catholics from around the world.

The Bishop was most touched and moved by this act and asked for his gratitude to be expressed to all who had contributed.

A congregation of 22 attended the Sung Mass at 3pm at Our Lady of the Taper, Cardigan, on Sunday to mark Monsignor Johnson's last official Latin Mass prior to his retirement next year.

After Mass the Monsignor blessed a spiritual bouquet of 315 Rosaries offered to celebrate the Bishop's 40th Anniversary of ordination on 18th December.

The faithful present then sang the Salve Regina around the shrine statue of Our Lady.

Catholics from around the world contributed to this bouquet which will be presented to him by Menevia's Co-ordinator for the Extraordinary Form of Mass, Fr Jason Jones.

Afterwards, Elaine Sharpling made a presentation to Monsignor Johnson to thank him for his dedication in celebrating the EF Mass in West Wales over so many years. He was presented with a gift as a token of thanks and a pledge of a Latin Mass to be celebrated on his behalf at the Birmingham Oratory.

The Rosary Petition grows.......

As at 17.22 hours today we have 293 pledges to say the Rosary for the Mass to return to West Wales and on behalf of the intentions of Bishop Burns....
